I make paintings that center Black life, emotion, and memory. Most of my work comes from moments I recognize in myself or in the people around me. I’m drawn to scenes that hold a feeling, especially ones that echo the experiences I grew up with. Nostalgia tends to show up in my work even when I’m not aiming for it. It’s something that sticks to the subject matter and keeps pulling me toward certain images.

I focus on portrait and figurative work because I’ve always been interested in capturing real people and real moments. I try to paint with honesty. I want the viewer to feel the weight of a gesture, the humor in a scene, or the quiet in someone’s expression. My approach blends traditional oil and acrylic with digital work when I need to sketch or experiment. I let the materials move at the pace of the idea.

Painting has always been something I felt called to do. My goal is to keep building a body of work that reflects the lives that shaped me and the stories I still feel connected to. I want my art to feel lived-in, familiar, and true to the communities it comes from.
